Frequently Asked Questions

When is TFS Proposal application due?

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. All grant applications are due by February 14, 2025 (@11:59PM PST).

What is the goal of TFS?

The primary objective of the TFS Project is to make faith matter more for 10 million young people over ten years by strengthening the capacities of TENx10 partners to engage teenagers in intentional acts of service and justice.

How many grants are being awarded?

We anticipate offering up to 130 grants and proposals that match the stated criteria.

How much is each recipient eligible to receive?

Each recipient will be eligible to receive up to $25,000 (paid in two installments) to complete the service-related project.

Does the project have to happen within a specific timeframe?

Projects should be completed between March and December 2025.

We are a for profit organization and wish to apply to the TFS grant. Can you please provide any additional steps we might need to take?

We anticipate being able to award funds to both for profit and non-profit organizations. If you are a for profit organization, please complete the application as requested and note your organizational classification. We will follow up with you on any other needed information.

Can two separate organizations receive grant funding and then work together for execution of project?

Yes, we encourage collaboration between organizations in the TFS project.

If I am applying from a church, does the church require a separate 501c(3)?

The church is able to receive the grant as long as it has a tax ID number.

What if I’ve never written a grant before? Is there anyone to assist me?

Informational workshops will be offered to answer questions about the grant on January 7, 2025 and January 15, 2025 from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. PST. There will be a workshop offered on January 28, 2025 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.. PST to help with the grant writing process.

How do I get access to attend a workshop?

Is there a way to draft my application before submitting it?

Yes! Get a worksheet copy of the grant application.

Is there a specific group my project should help?

TENx10 is committed to reaching 10 million young people in 10 years. Your grant project should help develop the faith of 6th-12th graders.

Do grant proposal applications have to be submitted online?

Yes. Please submit your application HERE.

What if I need assistance deciding on a project? Who should I contact?

Our staff is excited to support TENx10 Partners throughout The Faith and Service Grant process. There will be a Partner Brainstorm session on February 6th at 11am EST if you would like to work with colleagues in the field on your project ideas. If you have questions about your specific project or desire to process one-on-one, please reach out to tfs@TENx10.org or schedule a call with Lori Ruffin, TENx10’s Senior Director of Strategy and Systems.

How will grant proposal applications be reviewed?

All applications will be reviewed by a team of TENx10 staff and non-staff members. Each question is scored on a Likert Scale based on how it meets the criteria outlined on the website, and then submitted for final review and approval. We will contact your organization if we have any questions. The grant is non-competitive. Applications that meet the criteria will receive a grant.

How long will it take to get an answer to our grant proposal?

All applicants will receive a response to their application no later than March 30, 2025.

If I still have questions, who should I contact?

We welcome any additional questions that you may have through the application process as well as after your project is underway. If you have questions that we did not answer here, please email them to tfs@tenx10.org.

Can an institution with an existing grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. or any other funding organization apply for a TFS Grant?

Yes, an organization with a current grant from another institution may apply, however, your project budget should only reflect the funding request from TFS and how the award will be used.

Will you accept an applicant’s proposal from an organization that provides services outside the United States?

Any faith-based charitable organizations that meets the TFS Grant Partner criteria is eligible to apply for a TFS Grant including those with a wider service footprint. The beneficiaries of the TFS Grant should be youth located in the US.

Can my organization submit multiple proposals for different leaders?

We ask that each organization only submit one proposal. Your proposal can include multiple projects but all projects must be completed no later than December 31, 2025.

Can you provide guidance on how to present our grant budget?

We ask that you please provide a line item budget in a table format following the template provided using the following categories:

  • Activity – Amounts here are associated with executing the activity, not necessarily with activity preparation and personnel. Those items should be listed below.
  • Personnel – The Faith & Service Project Grant budget may include salary expenses for time associated with TFS project activities.
  • Supplies – Anything that needs to be purchased to implement the project. Marketing and software should be reflected in the administrative line item.
  • Administrative – Expenses related to software, marketing, travel, or office supplies that are for project preparation or management.
  • Other – All additional expenses that do not fit into the above categories. Please detail these expenses in the line-item description.
  • Your budget must total no more than $25,000.

Does TENx10 anticipate offering this opportunity next year?

At this time, TENx10 does not anticipate offering this opportunity next year. We encourage you to apply with this round of applications.

Do I need to be a TENx10 partner to apply for the grant?

At this juncture, The Faith & Service Grant application is only open to organizations that applied to become TENx10 partners by December 14, 2024. If you are unsure of your partnership status, please contact Shane Sanchez, Director of Partnerships at shanesanchez@fuller.edu.

If I am the CEO of my organization, does the institutional letter of support need to be signed by someone else?

If you are the CEO/senior officer of your organization, your signature on the letter of institutional support is sufficient.

If a grant director changes position during the grant timeline, what will happen to the grant?

The grant funds should be used within the organization. If the grant director remains within the organization, they may continue to execute the project. If the grant director leaves the organization, the organization must appoint someone else to carry out the project.

Do TFS projects have to serve youth 13-18 or can it also serve college students?

TFS is designed to mobilize the faith of youth through service and justice. For that reason, we are looking at projects that serve and include youth 13-18 years old.

Should different organizations that operate under a shared 501c(3) apply with separate proposals or combined?

Please limit your proposals to one per 501c(3). If your organization is made up of multiple partners that relate to TENx10 separately, please reach out to tfs@tenx10.org.
