Young people are more likely

to have a faith that matters when they experience relational discipleship radically focused on Jesus.

Faith Formation Framework

Faith Formation Framework

While well-intentioned, our current approach to youth discipleship isn’t working. In fact, research shows that over 1 million young people are walking away from faith communities annually.

In response, this framework—rooted in scripture, research, and experience—shows that young people are more likely to develop a thriving, lifelong faith when:

Large number - 1

Faith is shared by adults

Young people have multiple trusted adults who love God and love them. They intentionally share life and faith together.

Large number - 2

Faith is internalized through spiritual practices and learning

Young people’s faith is embodied, grounding their identity and belonging in Christ, as they engage the Word and Christian practices like prayer, bible study, sharing testimonies, and worship.

Large number - 3

Faith is applied through service and justice

Young people flourish when they live out their faith through acts of service and justice.

Large number - 4

Faith is catalyzed by family intimacy and intentionality

Young people’s faith flourishes most when their families model and support discipleship - and leaders partner with families on their spiritual journeys.

Large number - 5

Faith is prioritized by the entire faith community and leadership

Young people thrive when the entire faith community prioritizes their formation - in its structure, culture, and decision-making. The faith of the next generation is everyone’s responsibility.
